The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated Joe Biden on winning the U.S. presidential election.
The Prime minister tweeted on his official handle, “Congratulations Joe Biden on your spectacular victory! As the VP, your contribution to strengthening Indo-US relations was critical and invaluable. I look forward to working closely together once again to take India-US relations to greater heights”.
The Prime Minister also congratulated US Vice President elect Kamala Harris.
“Heartiest congratulations Kamala Harris! Your success is pathbreaking, and a matter of immense pride not just for your chittis, but also for all Indian-Americans. I am confident that the vibrant India-US ties will get even stronger with your support and leadership”, the Prime Minister said in his tweet.
We have to keep in mind that the Democratic Veep has been critical of India’s human rights record and has asked for the restoration of special status to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
India will look forward to a positive relationship with the new government in US as it grapples with rising China, falling economy at home. For the US, India remains a key partner in QUAD and also a major defence partner with whom it has signed the three important agreements, namely, LEMOA, COMCASA and very recently, BECA.
