Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences based out of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh has topped India in the 2021 QS rankings for citation index, highlighting quality research in educational institutions.

The varsity has been ranked at number 14 across Asia in a similar field. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia rankings were announced on Wednesday night at a virtual function.

Further Shoolini University, the youngest to be among top institutions, has been ranked joint seventh among all private universities in the country and 38th among educational institutions.

It showed better performance than most IITs, Punjab University, and several other leading institutions. Moreover, it is the only university in Himachal Pradesh to make it on the list.

The QS Asia rankings also put Shoolini University among the leading 300 institutes of Asia. Additionally, it is for the first time that the institute has been part of the QS rankings. It has first appeared in the 2021 edition, along with a percentile evolution of 43.4 per cent.

Apart from this, the young, Trust-run university was recently placed third in the Education Ministry’s list, which was topped by the combined output of all the 23 IITs of India.

Prof PK Khosla, the Vice-Chancellor, stated the QS rankings of the institute displayed the sincerity and researchers’ hard work at the institute. It was poised to reach greater heights, and the aim was always to be among the top global leading universities.

Furthermore, the achievement is all the more symbolic because the ranking is among over 1,000 institutions, including the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, IITs, IIMs, and central research institutes in the country. The report also suggested that the institute has made its way among the top 44 per cent of the QS World University Rankings.

Shoolini University has been maintaining its place in the 101-150 band of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by India’s education ministry for the past four years in a row.

On the other hand, Atal Rankings of private Institutions on Innovations and Achievements (ARIIA) ranked it from six to 25 in the all-India level recently.

Also, the institute has received the QS international certification for excellence in Academic digitalization and was selected for Times Higher Education (THE) for the Asia Awards 2020 in the category of “Outstanding Student Support”.

Earlier, Shoolini University was among 35 of the one lakh institutions, including over 900 universities, across the country to receive certification for Excellence in Academic Digitization.

It was also selected for the category of “Outstanding Support for Students” for the implementation of its Skill Progression through Rapid Intensive and Innovative Training (SPRINT) Program with SIQANDAR.AI, software created for evaluating and guiding students for soft skills and interviews.
